If the question is should they have added these two in addition to Hader and paid more luxury taxes on these salaries, I think the answer is clearly no, especially from Jim Crane's standpoint. Should they have signed these two rather than pay even more for Josh Hader ($19M a season) is a more interesting question, though Hader is of course a much better pitcher.
