This was the summer of Jason Isbell for me. I find my connection to his surprising at my age and life state--and think that how relatable I find Isbell's songwriting explains my obsession.
I enjoyed Isbell's Live at Ryman (something sort of fun about the song Super 8), and I'm going to check out the new album now. FWIW, I liked the Drive By Truckers albums he was on, Blessing and a Curse has three great songs together (Gravity's Gone, Easy On Yourself, and Aftermath USA). And I think DBT has a special edition of Decoration Day for sale. That's a hell of an album - and I didn't really get into the DBT until three years ago.
Thanks - hadn’t heard his music before but I’m liking what I’m hearing!
Thanks for this. Terrific analysis
